Ski-Doo Olympique - 1965 was the first year that Ski-Doo used model names on their snowmobiles. Before that the Ski-Doo snowmobiles were referenced by an alpha-numeric codes, such as the K80 in 1960. The first 1965 Ski-Doo Olympique snowmobile featured a 247cc, 10 h.p. Rotax single cylinder motor, was referred as a 250 with a Tillotson HL carburetor and a CAN style muffler. The 1965 Olympique was the first Ski-Doo to come with a Keyed ignition switch, before that Ski-Doo used a kill button.The Olympique went through various changes over the years. Including the anglasized version of the name Olympic. 1979 was the last year that the Olympique name was used in the Ski-Doo line up.

Here some history on the ski-doo Olympique snowmobiles. On March 28,1967 a expedition of six men set off from Ellesmere Island in northern Canada for the North Pole using the Ski-Doo Super Olympic snowmobiles. Due to a bad storm and blowing 50 MPH winds that lasted for seven days the expedition was force to abandon.
March 7, 1968 the expedition set off again for their second attempt. This time from a point farther north, Ward Hunt Island. starting out with crew of seven men, only four men made it to the North Pole. After 43 days the expedition arrived at the North Pole on April 19,1968. The expedition is know as "The Plaisted Polar Expedition"
